It was 3:37 PM.
102° outside.
I was late to an appointment, I tossed my bag into the passenger seat, slammed the door, and ran inside.
45 minutes later, I came back to disaster.
That $24 lipstick I had just splurged on?
A puddle.
Melted into the lining of my makeup bag, caps off, mess everywhere. Gone.
💄 What I Didn’t Know Then (But Do Now)
I had no idea that the inside of a parked car in summer can reach 130°F or more.
And that beauty products—especially creamy, oil-based ones—cannot survive that.
That lipstick wasn’t the only thing I lost:
-
I tossed the bag
-
Had to clean out half my purse
-
And showed up to dinner wearing whatever I could find in my glove box 🙃
🧊 What I Do Now
I bought a heat-resistant, insulated makeup bag from Karsan Co — and I haven’t ruined a product since.
It’s lined with thermal material, compact enough to toss in my tote or console, and keeps everything cooler even when the rest of my car feels like a sauna.
I’ve tested it with:
-
Lipsticks
-
Mini skincare bottles
-
Facial mist
-
Stick SPF
-
Roll-on perfume
Still perfect. Still clean. Still intact.
💼 Final Thoughts:
So no — I’ll never leave a lipstick in a hot car again.
I also won’t settle for a makeup bag that’s just cute.
It needs to protect what I paid for.
